Accurate transcription from audio tapes, VHS video, digital recordings, CDs or DVDs...
Albright Administration specializes in transcribing multi-person focus groups, interviews, and conferences. We have expertise in business, technical, health, and financial terminology. Our extensive transcription experience covers a range of other subject material including medical, pharmaceutical, education, legal, and insurance. |
All transcription is done to your specifications. Our three most requested transcription styles are:
Verbatim: Everything that is recorded is transcribed. Included are personal comments, side conversations, false starts, repetitions, moderator/interviewer remarks, and interruptions. Transcript is proofread with audio for accuracy.
Lightly Edited Verbatim: All relevant conversation is transcribed verbatim. Unrelated comments, side conversations, false starts, repetitions, and irrelevant moderator/interviewer interruptions are eliminated. Transcript is proofread with audio for accuracy.
Single Pass Lightly Edited Verbatim: The same as Lightly Edited Verbatim except the transcript is not proofread with audio. Light editing is done as we transcribe and the final transcript is spell checked. This style is most often requested for focus groups and research interviews.
For Transcripts Proofread with Audio...
We do our best to deliver the most accurate transcript possible on time and in the format you require. Verbatim and Lightly Edited Verbatim transcripts are proofread by doing a second pass with the audio to help ensure accuracy and to help eliminate inaudibles and/or unintelligibles.
We research, check, and correct technical terms, company names, brand names, medical terms, pharmaceuticals, acronyms, and legal terms. All final transcripts are sight checked for visible errors, proper punctuation, and formatting requirements and can be delivered immediately upon completion via e-mail.
Confidentiality is assured.
Output: Completed transcripts are in your preferred document format: MS Word, Lotus Word Pro, Word Perfect, Open Office/Star Office Docs, Google Docs, RTF, or plain text. Delivery is via e-mail, Internet download, floppy disk, CD, hard copy, or any combination you require. |
Turnaround time depends on the quality of the source material, the number of speakers, and the number of recorded hours. It takes 4 to 5 hours to transcribe one hour of good quality audio with two speakers. Our normal turnaround for two hours of audio with one or two speakers is two business days.
The number of speakers, overlapping voices, audio quality, background noise, accents, unusual terminology, speed talking, and other factors can affect the transcription ratio, actual turnaround time, and transcript quality.
Rush jobs can often be accommodated. Please call ahead to check time or to schedule a project at (215) 574-1950 or e-mail us.

Our transcription pricing is a flat rate per recorded minute, with a minimum of 15 minutes, based on audio quality and number of speakers. We do not charge per page, per line, per word, or per work hour - you always know up front exactly what your cost will be.

To ensure fair pricing we use the Industry Production Standards Guide (IPS) to help calculate billable transcription time. The industry standard for transcribing good quality audio with one or two speakers is a 1:5 ratio. This means that one hour of good quality audio takes approximately 5 hours to transcribe. Multi-person recordings, overlapping voices, heavy accents, poor sound quality, and other factors can increase the ratio significantly.
Even the best multi-person and focus group recordings can be diminished in quality by side comments, coughing, papers shuffling, laughing, or chairs moving. Focus group transcription can sometimes require up to 12 transcription hours per recorded hour.
